The Fabric of Puns
This joke will test our readers’ knowledge or memory of The Satanic Verses, a book I’ve yet to read if only to see what the controversy was all about. I did visit a Klingon translator online (yes, it exists — translating in 44 languages, including Klingon), but the word “fatwa” wasn’t recognizable by the translation program. The closest to “legal opinion” (“fatwa” refers to a legal opinion based upon Islamic law, issued by a recognized source for such opinions) in Klingon is “mub vuD”. Thus spake the translator. Some Trek fan out there will probably prove me wrong!

But this pun was funny.
