I’m going to get a lot of laughs from some folks and merry hell from others. There is a continuing controversy over whether the “G” is hard or soft. Some people say it’s pronounced like the peanut butter brand, “Jif”, while others use the hard “G”, which is what makes this joke work. I went for the joke. It’s a common failing among punsters like myself. Deal with it. 😀

I personally say it with a hard G. Even though the original developer(s) wanted it to sound like the peanut butter brand, I can only guess that people did not want to confuse the file format with the peanut butter brand.
