Getting the Message

Cora: “I’m coming down.” Lightfoot: “Careful, there…”
Lightfoot: “Need help?” Cora: “Think I’ve got it, thanks.”
Cora: “This place really takes care of you. I think I’ll just talk to Theo.” Lightfoot: “What changed your mind?”
“When I looked in the window, the drapes were closed, bearing the words JUST TALK TO HIM.” Lightfoot: “Our interior decorator isn’t terribly subtle.”

The term “house mom” takes on a new meaning, in this context. Who’d have thought that the house itself would be providing relationship advice? Still, if the advice is good, the source of it might not matter. The house protects everyone it cares for, as we’ve seen all along; it got Theo and Cora together in the first place. Seems only natural that it would try to help in other ways as well. I can almost hear Mamma House talking: “Use your words, children!” Good advice.
