But It's Consistent

Cora: “Lightfoot, did you just…?” Lightfoot: “No. Or at least, not that anyone else could have seen.”
Cora (out of frame): “Okay, you’d better try the dumb white girl explanation.” Lightfoot: “Remember me telling you that I’ve always been a red fox? People who are really able to look at me can see me in my anthro form, no matter where I am.”
Cora: “But you don’t actually change.” Lightfoot: “Not so far as I know.”
Cora: “You realize that makes no logical sense.” Lightfoot: “Ignorant Injun don’t know no better.”

I borrowed the title for this strip from the courtroom scene in the great film What’s Up, Doc? In it, the judge (Liam Dunn) is trying to sort out what has happened to cause a huge, cartoon-destructive, and utterly hilarious car chase through San Francisco. Dr. Howard Bannister (Ryan O’Neal) is trying to explain it in a way that the audience can follow but that the hapless judge is confused by. At one point, Dr. Bannister asks, “Does that make sense?” The judge replies, “No, but it’s consistent.”
