Puns and Boondoggles

Lightfoot: “Caedmon, would a military scandal involving submarines be an Underwatergate?”
Caedmon: “Lightfoot, you do realize that no one born after 1980 is going to get that joke? And millennials will probably know nothing about military scandals, like the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.”
Lightfoot: “You mean the 14-year, $17 billion boondoggle that would have killed hundreds of American troops if it hadn’t been modified in the M2 and M3 versions that were originally designed to be sold to Israel?”
Caedmon: “I forget that you work in a library.” Lightfoot: “I also watch movies. Go see ‘The Pentagon Wars’ for the full story.”

This is a real thing, although not many people know of it. (Many you didn’t want to know of it.) The Pentagon Wars is a good film and very informative. In its way, it’s even funny, as well as tragic. And yes, my youngest fans, I wait to see how many of you know my references.

About a week ago, this strip turned two years old, and it's just shy of 40,000 page views; not bad for an upstart strip of office-safe furry work! Thanks to all of you who have subscribed, watched, supported via Patreon, and otherwise helped us get to this milestone (or, in most of the world, a kilometerstone… maybe?). I appreciate it

Well done! I’ll wait to see how many more get it. Thank you for taking the jest in good spirits. As one who lived through Watergate, I felt that this joke was necessary. It’s what my Dad would have called a “bargain-basement shot.”
