DVD Rewinder

Theo: “Thank you for calling Last Help Hope Desk; my name is Theo. How may I assist you?” Voice on phone: “Yes, I need some help with my DVD rewinder.”
Theo: “I beg your pardon, sir?” Voice on phone: “My DVD rewinder. I’m not sure it’s working.”
Theo: “A DVD rewinder.” Voice on phone: “Yeah. I had a videotape rewinder, back when I rented VHS tapes; now, I’ve got a DVD rewinder for when I borrow DVDs from the library.”
Theo: “I’m only sorry Billy Mays didn’t live long enough to see this.” Voice on phone: “He was one of the greats.”

Part of the problem with working at a help desk is finding clients who need an entirely different kind of help.

Billy Mays (1958-2009) was a television pitchman perhaps most associated with products like OxyClean and Kaboom! (I seem to recall that the exclamation point was part of the product name). He could sell just about anything, although I doubt that he would have stooped to selling a genuinely spurious product. He might have liked the gag gift, though.

I think in the 1960s somebody sold a gas driven pogo stick. Did not sell very good due to broken ankles.
True story, seriously.
