What I Am

Lightfoot: “Wow… That’s quite a talk you two had.” Theo: “And I still can’t resolve it. Lightfoot, have you thought about what the rest of your life is going to be like?”
Lightfoot: “Sometimes. I know that I don’t want to give up being a fox. In fact, I couldn’t even if I wanted to.”
Theo (out of frame): “How do you mean?” Lightfoot: “Even when I’m in my human form, I’m still a fox. It’s what I am, whether I show that form or not.”
Theo: “You’re getting all Indian on me again.” Lightfoot: “I yam what I yam.” Theo: “Spud.”

Once a fox, always a fox. Lightfoot is showing some of his ancestral roots and background here. Although born and raised in San Francisco, Lightfoot still has his parents, his extensive self-education, and his heart to lead him to himself. He was the first of the five to discover the house, and he is perhaps the most likely of all of them to have adapted quickly. As Cora has learned, knowing and accepting yourself is central to the house’s ability to make the transformation possible. If you don’t know who you are, you might become someone else. That, as our housemates would tell you, would be a shame.
