For the first time, Cora gets to see Theo as a human. For that matter, it’s our first time, too. Milestone!
Cora’s line is borrowed, with great affection, from a story that Leo Buscaglia told about his parents. It was an arranged marriage in bella Italia. Rosa, who would become Leo’s mother, was so shy that she couldn’t look her husband-to-be in the face during all of those first meetings. Her sisters would tell her, “Oh, he’s so handsome!” Finally, at the ceremony, she kept her eyes closed until after the kiss. When she opened her eyes, seeing him for the first time, she smiled and said softly, “I did good.”
Who could resist borrowing a line as romantic as that? Thank you, dear Felice Leonardo Buscaglia. And thank you, Rosa.
