Evidence of the Miraculous

Cora: “If you’re only furry in your own house, then why are you furry here?” Theo: “Cora, I don’t know. But clearly there’s some kind of connection between these two houses. That’s the only explanation for the gateway between them.”
Cora: “Then why aren’t we furry in this house?” Theo: “Maybe this house was made to attract a different type of person. You’re a musician, your friend draws pictures… Maybe this is meant to be a safe haven for artists.”
Cora: “That could be true, I guess…” Theo: “Well, think about it for a moment. Isn’t there anything about this house that made you think that it was somehow different, maybe even magical?”
Cora: “Well, the rent was actually reasonable.” Theo: “That falls more under the miraculous.”

We don’t need a soap box to bring this topic up. The concept of “reasonable rent” has gone the way of the dodo and (mercifully) disco. However, “The Dodo” has come back in the form of benevolent animal videos on YouTube, and although the “with-it” bars and dance clubs call it techno, industrial, or just “dance music,” the oppressive thumping is the zombie-like artificial heartbeat of disco, so there might yet be hope for reasonable rent to make a comeback as well. Let me know when it reappears; I and several of my friends can use the help!
