I’ll go ahead and date myself by saying that even Raymond Burr might not have gotten that one. (I was born in 1958, a year after Burr began his nine-season run as the one and only original Perry Mason. He’s the only person who could say, “You can win ’em all!”) Ophelia is clever enough to keep up with Lightfoot, and that’s no easy task. It’s that whole “clever fox” mystique, and he’s got what he happily calls “Injun bunkum” besides. Other lawyers hope he doesn’t try to pass the bar!
